Melbourne CBD second safe injecting room

A new safe injecting room has been under consideration to be placed in Enterprise Park in Melbourne CBD. Many people have had questions about the first safe injecting rooms as it was built next to a primary school and may not even prevent drug users from throwing needles next to the school.

But Martin Foley the Victorian Health Minister says, "I can say there are no plans to place the second trial at Enterprise Park."

One side of the story is that the health and Human Services believe that these safe injecting rooms provide safe and clean needles so that drug uses don't harm themselves by using dirty needles, they also provide counselling to help them get off of drugs and health clinics to provide them with health needs. But the other side of the story is that people are saying that the health minister condones drug use and the help that they provide may not work as some drug users chose to go the way they are heading. They also say that it defeats the whole purpose of illegal drugs, if a drug addict is going into the building with possession of illegal drugs you may as well take away their drugs and convict them for their illegal crimes.
