Why does journalism matter?

Journalism has the purpose of providing us with information that can help direct us in knowing what's true, false and help us make decisions in our society. Journalism is an easy access tool found in newspapers, magazines and websites. These resources are used to let the world know what is going on at the moment.

Journalism has many different ways of being used, e.g. it's used in the news, social media and the radio. Information we use and seek on a daily basis is all thanks to journalist. What do journalist do? Journalist analyse, research and investigate different topics, past, future and present. They create content that expresses diverse opinions and views that many people can agree and disagree with.

Journalists are the bridge between information and our decisions that we make out of it. They bring awareness to issues in our society and bring them to light to our leaders to develop a fix, they expose wrongful acts committed by people we look up to and make us rethink our biases and true beliefs on topics. Journalism is the root to all our knowledge, without journalists we wouldn't be able to contain all the information we use in school or work, it's hard to find a place that doesn't use journalism. What we watch is based on information created by the journalists, what we read is information created by journalists, they help us create decisions, example: like for what we eat, we can decide if it's healthy or not by researching it up and reading article made by a journalist.

Big question, what would happen if we didn't have journalists? Think about it! If we didn't have journalists I wouldn't be able to write this article about why journalism matters, if we didn't have journalists, I wouldn't be able to decide what's wrong and what's right on a controversial topic, if we didn't have journalists, I wouldn't have all my knowledge that I have right now, if we didn't have journalists we wouldn't be aware of the bad and good that's happening in society. So we can truly state that journalism is a huge factor for each and everybody's life on this earth, it's what we need or we wouldn't be able to understand each other, opinions or anything else really because everything we know and every knowledge we gain is from journalism.
